Celebrating 40 Years of Embracing Our Potential: 1973-2013
In the very beginning, a group of parents planted seeds of advocacy by coming together in response to a need of support for their children with autism. 40 years later, those seeds of advocacy grew and blossomed into the organization we know today as Autism Ontario, sprouting up in municipalities as individual and unique Chapters, becoming the most significant parent voice group in Ontario.
In 2013, Autism Ontario marked its 40th year as a collective group of people who understand, love, and care about the long term well-being of those with ASD. We are individuals, parents, siblings, relatives, professionals, educators, businesses and supportive friends.
We are so honoured that people took the time to share a bit of themselves with us at this point in our journey as an organization. As you read through these remarkable experiences, reflections, and suggestions written by friends, supporters, advocates and champions of Autism Ontario, take some time to consider not only the past but, indeed, why we are still here 40 years later.
Happy 40th Anniversary Autism Ontario!
